I’m Karen, an Adelaide Hills based photographer. I specialise in pregnancy, newborn, children and family photography. I love to create fun, natural portraits which are truly representative of the people I’m photographing.

This blog is the place that I can provide ‘sneak peeks’ of my recent client work along with showcasing some of my personal photography of my family and friends, or provide information about any special offers or competitions I might be offering at the time.

Morning Glory {Adelaide Family Photographer}

I met the “C Family” at their home on a Saturday morning a few weeks back. Their back yard was a photographer’s dream, and Mother Nature gave us the yummiest light and a really beautiful morning for the photo shoot. Add to this a pretty little princess and a handsome little man, and I was thrilled!

I love photographing families like this one. The children were beautiful, in fact the whole family were so much fun! These guys are the types of clients who make my job easy, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. We even managed to capture one of the four-legged family members, a very special old girl who was just lovely and featured in one of my favourite photographs from this session.

Thank you to the “C Family”, it was a pleasure to meet you and hang out for a while!

Click For Kids {Adelaide Family Photographer}

I am super excited to be participating in “Click For Kids 2009″, an awesome event to raise money to assist the Nong Khai Nursery and Primary School in Thailand.

A group of amazing Australian photographers have donated an array of photographic sessions and packages, which will be auctioned within the next week. Money raised by the auction will be donated to this very worthy cause.

(I must also say that I am completely honoured that two of my images have been chosen to help promote the event. If you click on the link to the site you will see some of the gorgeous little stars from my portfolio in the banner and the main image.)

Dale Taylor Workshop {Adelaide Family Photographer}

Wow! What an awesome weekend it has been. I was very fortunate to have been able to spend Sunday and today shooting/learning with the incredibly talented Dale Taylor, at her Adelaide Workshop.

I love having the opportunity to learn new photography “stuff”…and learn I did! My head is spinning with ideas and I think another session at the beach (ASAP!) is a must. The added bonus to this weekend was that I got to spend time with some other awesome Adelaide photographers as well. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and can’t wait to put what I learnt to good use.

Just a few from the weekend that I wanted to share:

Fairy Princesses {Adelaide Children’s Photographer}

When I got the opportunity to photograph these beautiful girls, I was over the moon. The younger of the three sisters was a little on the shy side, but they all gave me some absolutely amazing photographs and I enjoyed their session so much.

I think these photographs speak volumes about their personalities: Miss Sophie is a gentle-souled child, with eyes you could get lost in; little Miss Stella is a plucky, fun and spirited little character that I wish I could have bottled up and taken home; and Miss Eliza is shy, yet captivating. They are all just beautiful. If I ever have a little girl of my own, I’d be happy with one like any of these three!

These darlings are very special – as is their Mum – and I hope they love these photographs as much as I do!

Little Darling {Adelaide Newborn Photographer}

This special little fellow is Kepler, who was born at 27 weeks. When we photographed him, he hadn’t even quite reached his due date, but had reached the 3kg mark and is growing nice and strong!

He was truly a beautiful little baby boy, and my easiest newborn to date – even easier than my own little William, who was super cruisy to pose. Little Kepler didn’t need resettling, feeding – nothing. He was the perfect little model and was honestly just the sweetest little thing. What an enjoyable shoot we had, and I hope my next lot of newborns is just as wonderful as he was!!

Newborn Goodness {Adelaide Newborn Photographer}

I love photographing newborns. They would have to be my favourite little subjects and I get a lot of enjoyment from these sessions.

This little dude was no exception, and was so cute! He was just over three weeks old, which is a little bit older than what I usually like to photograph newborns at. But, he was also born a few weeks earlier than expected, so it all evened out and once he was sleeping peaceful we got some awesome shots of little Mr M. He was so beautiful.

My Big Boy {Adelaide Children’s Photographer}

One of my big boy, who makes my heart sing. I don’t get as many chances to photograph him (he’s not as keen as some of the other children I photograph!) but on this particular morning we were heading out to a birthday party here in the Adelaide Hills, and he let me take just a few.

I had an absolute field day when our youngest baby was born – not only did I have my own newborn to photograph, but he was cute and obliging as well!! I thought I’d share some of the photographs I took of him as a new baby. He’s now just over 4 months old, but they’re still some of my favourites.

The Perfect Princess {Adelaide Newborn Photographer}

I was so blessed to be able to travel all the way to Melbourne for this newborn shoot. I enjoyed photographing her so much – she is such a special little darling. After 4 long years, my dear friends welcomed Miss Charlotte into the world. I spent a few days photographing this little Princess and her parents.
